Bodycraft was founded by Jim Davenport in Albert Square, Rugby, built on a foundation of quality workmanship and trusted local service.
1980s
In 1980, the business was renamed The Rugby Bodyshoppe and relocated to Bath Street, Rugby. After three years, in 1984, the company moved into its purpose-built facility at Butlers Leap, Rugby, where it remains today.
During this period, the business established a strong reputation across Rugby and the surrounding areas, growing through repeat custom and word-of-mouth recommendation.
2000s
Continued investment in modern repair equipment and updated workshop processes ensured the business kept pace with advancing vehicle technology and evolving industry standards.
2010s
The Rugby Bodyshoppe transitioned into a structured, insurer-approved accident repair centre, introducing digital estimating systems and strengthened operational controls.
2020s - Present
Continued investment has strengthened The Rugby Bodyshoppe’s position as a modern, insurer-approved repair centre. This includes the installation of advanced, energy-efficient spray booth systems, upgraded preparation areas and ongoing upgrades to repair equipment to meet evolving vehicle standards.
Alongside infrastructure improvements, the business continues to invest in staff development, digital systems and environmental performance, operating in line with ARIES guidance and modern compliance requirements.
While the technology has advanced, the core values established in 1973 remain at the heart of the business.
